In protest of the government's move to downplay the recognition of rights of IPs, upland rural poor

In protest of the government's move to downplay the recognition of rights of IPs, upland rural poor and other mining-affected communities, we enjoin everyone to a nationwide "fax barrage" on the 3rd of December 2003 to signify our unified opposition to the National Minerals Policy (NMP) Framework and the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.

Please find below recommended materials for the fax barrage on December 3. This will be held simultaneously with the National Mining Conference at the Holiday Inn Galleria Manila, Ortigas, Pasig City. President Arroyo is expected to sign an Executive Order as she endorses the NMP.

The following are list of targeted agencies for the fax barrage. We call on friends in advocacy to direct your fax barrage to the agency nearest you. Other information are also provided shall you prefer them over telefax transmittal.

We hope that through this activity we can further make both the government and the mining industry recognize the true voice of the people.
